How to Join a Public League in FPL

Public leagues in FPL are great for three reasons:

  • Open to all: No invitation required; any FPL participant can join.
  • Random competition: Compete against managers globally, making matches unpredictable and diverse.
  • League limits: Typically limited to 20 teams, echoing the structure of the actual Premier League.

Joining a public league

When you’re ready to join a public league, the process is quite straightforward:

1. Registration and sign In

Before you can join a public league, ensure you have an FPL account.

If you’re new, you’ll need to register; returning managers simply need to sign in with their credentials. Your FPL account is the gateway to both creating and joining fantasy football leagues.

2. Selecting a public league

Once signed in, navigate to the Leagues & Cups tab.

Here, you’ll find the option to join public leagues.

Next, you have a choice between ‘Classic’ or ‘Head-to-Head’ formats.

Select your preferred format and then click on ‘Create and join new leagues’.

Head-to-Head Versus Classic Scoring:

  • Head-to-Head: Face a different manager each week, similar to actual football fixtures.
  • Classic: Points are tallied over the season, and the highest-scoring teams lead.

After selecting the league format, you will have to confirm your choice as shown in the screenshot below.

In summary, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the ‘Leagues & Cups‘ area.
  2. Choose from either ‘Public Classic Leagues‘ or ‘Public Head-to-Head Leagues
  3. Join Existing League & Cup
  4. Click the ‘Join Public League’ button
  5. Select to join a ‘Classic League’ or ‘Head-to-Head League’

Remember, you can be a part of up to three public leagues simultaneously. This is a great way to test different strategies and interact with a broader community of FPL enthusiasts.

By joining a public league, you can enhance your FPL experience, challenging your decisiveness and football knowledge against others who share your passion.

3. League confirmation

After selecting to join, you’ll receive a confirmation of your entry into the league.

With that completed, you’re officially part of a public FPL league and ready for the competition!
