Pedro Porro (£5.5m)

  • It may be worth taking a punt on Tottenham’s 1st choice RB for £5.5m. He’s looked fairly good in pre-season, getting himself on the scoresheet.
  • Porro is very capable in front of goal and some may say he was unlucky to score only 3 goals last year.
  • I expect him to be one of the top performing defenders in Fantasy this season, improving on his goal contributions from the last campaign. With his role requiring him to overlap and underlap on the right-hand side of the pitch, expect him to get into advanced positions with regularity.
  • At £5.5m you may think the price is steep, but Porro is a consistent starter who will play 35-38 matches, take some set pieces and get you a fair number of clean sheets, goals, and assists in the process.

Cristian Romero (£5m)

  • The 1st choice RCB managed to score 5 goals last season, demonstrating that he’s a massive threat from set piece situations.
  • I’d expect him to regress on the goalscoring front this year, perhaps managing 2 or 3 goals.
  • He can be a little bit of a yellow card magnet (7 in total last season), so he’s not as likely to score highly on the bonus points system in games when he picks up a caution.

Destiny Udogie (£5m)

  • Clear 1st choice in the LB position, but less of an attacking threat than Porro on the other side due to the latter’s superior technique.
  • Will get forward just as much, if not more than Porro, but won’t have the added benefit of set piece duties.
  • Hasn’t played during pre-season, so he may be a minutes concern once the league starts due to not having had time to get up to speed with the rest of the squad.

Micky van de Ven (£4.5m)

  • The 1st choice LCB for Tottenham is absolutely rapid. He enables Tottenham to play an extremely high line as his fantastic recovery pace means he can easily cover up the ground behind him when needed.
  • Wasn’t able to play as much as his defensive partner Romero last season because of a hamstring injury, but managed to get on the
scoresheet 3 times which proves he’s nearly as good in front of goal as the Argentinian.
  • He may be the way into the Tottenham defence because of the cheap price point, which is worth bearing in mind.

Bench options:

  • Ben Davies (£4.5m)
  • Radu Drăgușin (£4.5m)
  • Sergio Reguilón (£4.5m)
  • Djed Spence (£4.5m)
  • Emerson Royal (£4.5m)
