Brentford’s question mark here as the captain has been angling for a transfer to a different club since his return from a betting ban.
If he remains at the club, he should retain penalty duties and direct free kicks near the edge of the area.
Would make Mbuemo and Wissa slightly worse FPL assets if he stays, taking away penalties from Mbuemo and game time from Wissa.
Yoane Wissa (£6m)
Can play at either LW or ST and is clinical in front of goal.
He’s one to watch as the season progresses because Toney is still at the club. The Englishman would eat into Wissa’s playing time, so wait to see if Toney secures a transfer away from Brentford before considering him for selection.
Even if Toney leaves, his minutes could be at risk because of the new signing Igor Thiago – who also plays striker – and because of the return of Kevin Schade – who primarily plays on the LW.
With Igor Thiago suffering a long-term injury leaving him out until the new year, there’s a greater chance of Wissa nailing the starting FWD spot. However, Ivan Toney is still in the picture having not yet secured a transfer away from the club.
Avoid for now but keep a close eye.
Igor Thiago (£6m)
New striker signing brought in as the “Toney replacement”.
Remains to be seen whether he starts immediately or is eased into the line-up.
Recently underwent surgery on his meniscus, leaving him out of action until the new year at the earliest.
