New signing in the goalkeeping department expected to provide stiff competition for Matz Sels.
Forest were very poor at defending set pieces last season and Miguel was brought in to address this deficiency. It remains to be seen if he’ll claim the starting spot for now.
It’s worth noting that Forest had a lower xGA/shot than Everton last season (0.11 v 0.12) who managed 13 clean sheets.
If Forest can keep up those defensive numbers this season, there’s value to be had picking up their 1st choice keeper whoever that’ll be, especially with the relatively easy opening fixtures and the £0.5m saving compared to Pickford.
Matz Sels (£4.5m)
Was Forest’s 1st choice goalkeeper last season, taking over from Matt Turner near the mid-way point of the previous campaign.
Sels should have the starting spot unless he makes some huge errors in games, whilst Miguel should start in the cup competitions.
