Mohamed Salah (£12.5m)

  • Fresh from summer break, Liverpool’s talisman should be first choice RW for the coming season, despite the fact that he lost his place in the starting 11 towards the end of Klopp’s reign.
  • Salah’s historic numbers have always justified his premium price point, having registered multiple 20+ goal seasons.
  • However, I expect a slight regression in his goal scoring this year (16-18 goals is my estimate), making it tough to justify his place as a Fantasy asset in your team.
  • For those going without Erling Haaland (£15m), Salah offers a viable captaincy alternative especially with penalty duties under his watch.

Luis Díaz (£7.5m)

  • Diaz was first choice LW last season but there may be a question mark over his starting spot because of Cody Gakpo’s resurgence.
  • Slot will certainly have been watching Gakpo’s impressive performance at the European championships, where he shined as a LW.
  • This puts Diaz’s position under threat, so I’d be looking elsewhere when it comes to Liverpool attacking assets.
  • When you also consider Diaz’s inability to register double digit goals or assists, it’s a tough choice to vouch for him as a pick.

Diogo Jota (£7.5m)

  • Jota is my Liverpool player of choice, as he’s clinical in front of goal regardless of the position he plays.
  • He can start all across the front line without reduced potency, and with 0.79 goals per 90 minutes last season, he’s deadly coming off the bench to score against tired defences.
  • If he’s able to avoid injury, Jota will most likely outscore his team mate Luis Diaz, and Arne Slot will no doubt be aware of his pedigree in front of goal.

Alexis Mac Allister (£6.5m) / Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.5m)

  • Under Klopp, these midfielders normally played further back on the pitch than the aforementioned options, so they shouldn’t really be in the conversation for Fantasy team selection with fairly limited attacking potential.
  • Mac Allister (5 goals, 5 assists) and Szoboszlai (3 goals, 4 assists) are unlikely to be as productive in front of goal than some of the similar priced assets from other teams outside the top 6.
  • However, the pre-season has seen Szoboszlai occupy the CAM role in behind the striker, so he could be a player that benefits from having a more advanced starting position on the pitch under Slot.

Curtis Jones (£5.5m) / Wataru Endo (£5m)

  • These two will get their fair share of starts in the Liverpool line-up, but they’re both unlikely to be Fantasy relevant assets because of their limited attacking threat.

Bench options:

  • Harvey Elliott (£5.5m)
  • Fábio Carvalho (£5m)
  • Ryan Gravenberch (£5m)
  • Stefan Bajcetic (£4.5m)
  • Bobby Clark (£4.5m)
  • James McConnell (£4.5m)
  • Ben Doak (£4.5m)
  • Tyler Morton (£4.5m)
