Phil Foden (£9.5m)

  • Foden was in sharp goalscoring form last season, netting 19 times and getting 8 assists as well.
  • With Haaland ahead of him able to occupy the opposition CBs, Foden is able to drift into pockets of space where he picks up the ball and drives towards goal, often releasing a powerful shot from the edge of the 18-yard box.
  • We expect him to register about 14-16 goals this season, which is fantastic even for £9.5m.
  • Will be rested occasionally – particularly when the UEFA Champions League fixtures return – but should manage 30+ starts again this season barring injury.

Kevin De Bruyne (£9.5m)

  • As the creative engine of the City team. De Bruyne is more of an assister than a goal scorer, which limits his viability as an FPL asset.
  • With his advanced age, he’ll also be rested a lot more often, making it difficult to justify a place in your team.
  • Does take set pieces and some direct free-kicks, but Foden offers more offensive output so he’s a player I’d personally avoid altogether.

Rodri (£6.5m)

  • Rodri is the glue that holds the Manchester City team together, usually starting in a double pivot midfield alongside one of Akanji, Stones or Kovačić.
  • Last season, he appeared to have taken over Gundogan’s role of making late runs into the box or getting shots away from the edge of the 18-yard area, meaning he’s a decent goal scoring threat.
  • 8 goals and 10 assists last season is brilliant for someone widely considered as a deep lying midfielder.
  • However, at £6.5m there are better attacking options playing in more advanced positions that I’d look to invest in.

Jack Grealish (£6.5m) / Jérémy Doku (£6.5m)/ Sávio (£6.5m)

  • All 3 of these wingers will be in and out of the starting 11, making them not worth their price points as the risk of rotation between them will be high.

Bernardo Silva (£6.5m)

  • Bernardo will mostly start on the RW, especially in the tougher fixtures against top-6 opposition as he offers incredible ball retention and work rate.
  • Won’t get on the scoresheet a lot of the time, but he’ll definitely chip in with assists for the likes of Haaland and Foden who’ll regularly be getting into advanced positions.
  • Another player who shouldn’t be on your radar because of better alternatives for the same price.

Mateo Kovačić (£5.5m)

  • The Croatian international will play alongside Rodri in the midfield double pivot, but won’t have the Spaniard’s offensive prowess.
  • Will probably play around 20 games as a starter, and isn’t someone you should be considering for your Fantasy team.

Bench options:

  • Oscar Bobb (£5m)
  • Matheus Nunes (£5m)
  • Kalvin Phillips (£5m)
